Vocational Readiness

Vocational Readiness helps prepare the client for the next step after Personal Adjustment Training.
The client is assisted in identifying his or her vocational goal through career exploration and the use of:
- Interest Inventories
- Achievement Testing
- Occupational Outlook Handbook
- CareerConnect Services
- Job Shadowing/Externship Experience
Clients are guided in the preparation of a resume and personal data sheet, and the development of interviewing skills. Near the end of the client’s program, an Externship Experience is offered that gives the client the experience of working on a job in the community, for a two-to-three week period. This experience enables the client to gain self confidence, a better understanding of his or her abilities, as well as how adaptive technology and accommodations may enable them to be productive in a work environment. It also gives the employer new awareness about the capabilities of people who are blind or visually Impaired, enhancing future employment opportunities for those with disabilities.
